The wait is officially over for the dice-rolling faithful. After years of anticipation following the cult success of the first game, Tactical Adventures has finally dropped Solasta II into Steam Early Access as of March 12, 2026. If you were looking for a reason to cancel your weekend plans and dive headfirst into a world of tactical grid-based mayhem, this is it. The sequel isn’t just a fresh coat of paint either; it’s a massive step forward that brings the crunchiest tabletop mechanics to life with a level of polish we’ve been dreaming of since the first crown was claimed.
New Continent, Same Deadly Stakes
Forget the familiar marshes and ruins of the first game because we are heading straight to the continent of Neokos. This isn’t just a change of scenery; it’s a brand-new narrative playground where you take control of the Colwall siblings. Unlike the first game where your party was a group of loosely connected mercenaries, these four adopted siblings are bound by blood and a dark family legacy that kicks off right after the death of their mother. You still get to fully customize their classes, ancestries, and personalities, but having that baked-in history makes the stakes feel a lot more personal as you navigate ancient covenants and supernatural forces threatening to tear the world apart.
The First 2024 Ruleset Experience
One of the biggest talking points for the tabletop nerds out there is that Solasta II is the very first major CRPG to implement the 2024 D&D Ruleset (SRD 5.2). This means you’re getting the absolute latest mechanics, including the game-changing Weapon Masteries that finally give martial characters some tactical utility beyond just “I swing my sword again.” From the Topple property knocking enemies prone to the Sap mastery giving them disadvantage on their next swing, the combat feels deeper and more reactive than ever. The developers have also integrated updated spell mechanics and class features that make even the “standard” Fighter or Cleric feel fresh and exciting to play.
Shiny Graphics and Star-Studded Voices
While the first Solasta was beloved for its mechanics, it was—let’s be honest—a little janky in the looks department. Solasta II has traded in the old engine for Unreal Engine 5, and the difference is night and day. The lighting is moodier, the environments are lush, and the Verticality 2.0 system makes combat feel truly three-dimensional with complex layering that encourages flight and teleportation. To top it all off, the game features a voice cast that would make any RPG fan drool, including heavy hitters like Amelia Tyler, Ben Starr, and Devora Wilde. Having the narrator from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clive from Final Fantasy 16 in your ear makes every dialogue choice feel like a cinematic event.
What You’re Getting on Day One
Since this is an Early Access launch, you won’t be finishing the whole story just yet. Right now, players can dive into the entirety of Act 1, which provides roughly 10 to 15 hours of gameplay. The launch build includes six playable classes—Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard, Paladin, and Sorcerer—along with 13 subclasses and full multiclassing support from the jump. The current level cap is 4, which is just enough to get those early-game builds online and start feeling like a powerhouse. While multiplayer isn’t available in the current build, Tactical Adventures has it high on the roadmap alongside future acts, more ancestries, and a higher level cap as they move toward the full 1.0 release in 2027.
