Masters of the Universe Incoming

Get ready to head back to Eternia, because the latest attempt to bring the classic Masters of the Universe franchise to the big screen is officially happening, and it’s got some serious muscle behind it. Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel are teaming up to drop this huge fantasy epic on June 5, 2026.

The Origin Story Flip

This isn’t your daddy’s He-Man origin story, though it does pay homage to the deep lore.

The film focuses on Prince Adam, but with a twist. When he was just ten years old, Adam crash-landed on Earth in a spaceship and got separated from his magical Power Sword—the only thing that connects him to his home planet, Eternia. So, instead of growing up as a prince on Eternia, he’s spent two decades here, basically living as a regular guy (maybe even rocking a boring office job, if the rumors are true).

The movie kicks off when he finally tracks down his legendary sword and is whisked back across space to a home he barely remembers. Now, he’s got to figure out his destiny, uncover the secrets of Castle Grayskull, and—oh yeah—become He-Man, the Most Powerful Man in the Universe, just in time to defend Eternia against Skeletor.

The Cast is Stacked

They’ve pulled together a seriously talented and interesting cast for this one, which is directed by Travis Knight (who previously nailed the tone of Bumblebee and the beautiful animation of Kubo and the Two Strings):

  • Nicholas Galitzine (from Red, White & Royal Blue) steps into the loincloth as Prince Adam / He-Man.
  • Jared Leto is taking on the role of the big bad, the deliciously evil Skeletor. That cackle is going to be something else.
  • Camila Mendes (Riverdale) is playing Adam’s friend and protector, Teela.
  • Idris Elba is stepping in as Man-at-Arms, Teela’s adoptive father and a key advisor to Eternos.
  • Alison Brie (Community, GLOW) is playing Skeletor’s powerful second-in-command, Evil-Lyn.
  • Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) is taking on the mystical role of The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull.

With that kind of talent and a director who knows how to blend heart and spectacle, this movie is shaping up to be an epic return to Eternia. Whether you’re a fan who grew up with the toys or someone new to the battle for Grayskull, it looks like it’s going to be a fun ride.
