Age of Wonders 4: Thrones of Blood has officially launched. And this latest expansion is all about letting us live out our ultimate gothic power fantasy as an Elder Vampire.
We’ll be setting up shop in a suitably creepy Vampire’s Castle with its own unique city structures. The big new mechanic is thralls, a vital resource we’ll use to power devastating Ritual Spells and generally just be the terrifying immortal we were meant to be. Plus, we can turn our recruited heroes into Turned Vampires who share their earned experience with us.
Three new Tomes focusing on the forbidden arts of blood and torment are coming with this dlc, including spells that let us make enemies Bleed, a status effect that even works on traditionally “bloodless” creatures.
We will be able to explore the new, dark Sunless Lands realm, full of unsettling Ancient Wonders and the creepy new resource Blood Glass.
Thrones of Blood also drops alongside the free Gargoyle Update, which brings a rework to the Dark Culture and some handy quality-of-life improvements for all players. Check out the trail0r for this thing below and also check it out on GOG and Steam.
