Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader was 2023’s Game of the Year for me, personally, and probably for many other RPG fan out there. While Baldur’s Gate 3 was pretty darn good, it was more suited for people newer to isometric RPGs. Rogue Trader is way more complex with a ton more RPG meat on it’s bones. And it is no wonder, since the studio behind it, Owlcat Games, previously brought us Pathfinder: Kingmaker in 2018 as well as the massive Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous in 2021.
As it stands, almost two years after Rogue Trader’s initial release, Owlcat Games now released version 1.5 of the game, with a whole slew of new content, rebalance, bugfixes and other goodies. The list is pretty huge:
Highlights:
- 4 new NPC portraits: Malice, Commissar, Clementia Werserian, Abel;
- 45 new Xeno and Astartes items;
- Astra Militarum Commander, Ministorum Priest, Commissar and Navy Officer Origin rework;
- 25 new talents and mechanical changes for rare and exotic weapons;
- Lex Imperialis content polishing;
- Convictions for Familiars;
- Companion starting builds review;
- Experience rebalance;
- Ability rebalance;
- Colonisation rebalance and reward updates;
- Redistribution and changes to items, loot and vendor tables;
- Hundreds of bugfixes, including Epilogue and Yrliet issues;
- And much more!
Owlcat also got into the publishing game recently, with Shadow of the Road being a really interesting mix of feudal Japan and Magic and Technology.
