Welcome back to Babes of Gaming, where we celebrate the most captivating characters the virtual worlds have to offer—seductive, powerful, and unforgettable. Today’s feature takes us deep into the Abyss itself for a woman whose beauty is as dangerous as the rift she tore open in reality. Meet Areelu Vorlesh, the half-succubus witch, Architect of the Worldwound, and one of the most alluring (and terrifying) figures in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

Picture her: pale skin kissed by Abyssal energies, elegant horns curving from dark hair, large bat-like wings folded or spread with deliberate grace, and eyes that burn with cold intellect and something far more intimate. She carries herself with the poise of a woman who has rewritten the laws of existence to suit her will. In official art and in-game models she often appears in form-fitting, revealing black and crimson attire that clings to every curve—high slits, deep necklines, and just enough fabric to suggest rather than conceal. Imagine her reclining across a stone altar in one of her laboratories, one wing draped lazily over her hip, legs crossed with deliberate provocation, or standing amid swirling portal energy, robes parted just enough to promise more. This is no mere villainess. This is a woman who turned herself into a living embodiment of forbidden desire and absolute power.

From Mortal Mage to Half-Succubus Legend
Areelu began life as a human woman in the land of Sarkoris, a place that feared and persecuted arcane magic. A gifted witch and scholar, she practiced her arts in secret while raising a child alone. When Sarkorian witch hunters discovered her, they imprisoned her in the dreaded Threshold tower. There, driven by grief after her child’s death at the hands of those same hunters, she made contact with the demon lord Deskari. Over years of study and forbidden pacts, she transformed herself—binding succubus essence into her being until she became a half-fiend, immortal, and far more powerful than any mortal mage.

In 4606 AR, shortly after the death of the god Aroden, Areelu helped open the Worldwound: a catastrophic rift between Golarion and the Abyss that flooded Sarkoris with demonic hordes. For more than a century she served as one of the most influential figures in the Worldwound, conducting experiments on mortals, demons, and even angels in her pursuit of knowledge that could shatter the boundaries between life, death, and divinity. Her true goal, revealed in the deepest layers of the story, was never simple conquest. It was the resurrection and elevation of her lost child—an obsession that drove her to create the mythic power that fuels the player character in Wrath of the Righteous.

She is Chaotic Evil by the standards of the world, yet she views herself as beyond such labels. Limits of any kind—moral, physical, or planar—are simply obstacles to be removed.

Where You’ll Find Her
Areelu Vorlesh originates in Paizo’s Pathfinder Adventure Path: Wrath of the Righteous tabletop campaign, where she appears as a major antagonist and architect of the central crisis. Her role was greatly expanded in Owlcat Games’ 2021 CRPG adaptation Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. In the video game she becomes a central, complex figure whose presence is felt from the early acts through the endgame. Players encounter her in person, through projections, and in her personal laboratory filled with the remnants of her experiments. She is voiced with a calm, measured intensity that makes every word feel like both a threat and an invitation.

She does not appear as a major character in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, though the broader Worldwound lore connects the two games.
Why She Belongs in the Babes of Gaming Hall of Fame
Areelu is the rare villain who is simultaneously maternal, scientific, and deeply sensual. Her half-succubus nature is not just window dressing—it informs every elegant movement, every measured glance, every moment she chooses to reveal a little more of herself. Fan artists and official illustrators alike have captured her in poses that range from scholarly (leaning over ancient tomes, wings partially unfurled) to openly predatory (perched on ruined architecture, robes open, inviting the viewer closer even as her power could unmake them). She is the embodiment of the idea that the most dangerous women are often the most irresistible.

In a genre full of warrior queens and flirtatious companions, Areelu stands apart: a woman who looked at the gods, the Abyss, and the very structure of reality and decided none of it was good enough. She remade herself into something more—and she looks damn good doing it.

So raise a glass (or a glass of something darker) to Areelu Vorlesh. The Worldwound may have closed, but her presence lingers. And on the pages of Babes of Gaming, she remains forever in her prime: wings spread, intellect sharp, and curves that could tempt even a demon lord.
