The Federation has issued a new call to arms, and this time, the fight against the Arachnid menace is getting a glorious, retro makeover! Developer Auroch Digital (known for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun) and publisher Dotemu have officially announced Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!, an all-new single-player, retro-style first-person shooter set to deploy in Q1 2026.
Ultimate Bug War! trades the high-fidelity graphics of modern titles for a stylized, low-poly aesthetic that perfectly captures the tone of the classic film and the era of shooters it seeks to emulate.
- Retro FPS Style: The game is a dedicated “boomer shooter,” emphasizing fast-paced action, massive enemy swarms, and a gloriously gory 3D-pixelated look.
- A New Solo Campaign: Players step into the boots of Major Samantha “Sammy” Dietz, a war veteran whose hunt for the terrifying Assassin Bug takes the fight from the familiar deserts of Klendathu to new, uncharted worlds. The story is set approximately 25 years after the original film, with General Johnny Rico (played by the legendary Casper Van Dien via high-quality FMV cutscenes) issuing mission briefings and patriotic messages.
- Devastating Arsenal: Troopers will have access to a massive array of firepower, including the iconic Morita rifle, as well as other heavy weaponry, tactical nukes, and even the ability to pilot a Mech vehicle.
The pairing of Auroch Digital and Dotemu is an excellent choice. Auroch Digital’s prior success with the critically acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun proves that they know what they are doing, promising a polished and satisfying bug-slaying experience.
The game is scheduled for release in Early 2026 on: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2. The Federation needs you, Trooper—prepare for the Ultimate Bug War!
