Taking a look at London’s Deadliest Beauty, we step into the gaslit streets of Victorian London for a woman who can take the city from the rooftops and still look like she belongs at a royal ball. Meet Evie Frye, Master Assassin, co-founder of the Rooks, and one of the sharpest, most quietly devastating heroines Ubisoft has ever put on screen.
Picture her perched on a chimney stack above Whitechapel, hood thrown back, dark brown hair coming slightly loose from its practical braid, blue eyes scanning the streets below. The long coat is open just enough to show the fitted layers beneath—Victorian structure meeting assassin practicality. The hidden blade rests against her wrist. One boot is planted on the ledge, the other dangling, as if she has all the time in the world. Now imagine her after the mission: coat shrugged off, shirt loosened, sitting on the edge of a four-poster in some stolen townhouse, cane-sword leaning against the bedpost, that same composed expression now carrying a different kind of invitation. Evie was built for stealth, but the design never pretended she wasn’t also built to be looked at.
From Crawley to the Capital
Evie Frye was born on 9 November 1847, four minutes before her twin brother Jacob—and she never let him forget it. Their mother, Cecily, died in childbirth. Their father, Ethan Frye, an Assassin, eventually took over their training in Crawley after a period with their grandmother. Where Jacob chafed against the lessons, Evie absorbed them. She was the studious one: research, planning, Pieces of Eden, the Creed itself. Her first kill was a mill owner who abused and underpaid his workers. Typical Evie—precise, justified, and finished before anyone saw her coming.
After Ethan’s death in 1868, the twins defied their superiors and headed to London. The city was under Templar control, and Crawford Starrick ran it like a private empire. Jacob built the Rooks as a street-level army. Evie hunted artifacts, outmaneuvered Lucy Thorne, and treated every rooftop as a chessboard. Together they dismantled Starrick’s network, saved Queen Victoria, and were knighted for their trouble. Evie later married Henry Green (Jayadeep Mir) and spent years in India with the local Brotherhood before returning in 1888 to deal with the Jack the Ripper crisis that had nearly destroyed what her brother had built.
She is the planner to Jacob’s chaos, the shadow to his brawl. She also happens to look like she walked out of a period painting and decided the painting wasn’t interesting enough.
Where You’ll Find Her
Evie first appeared as co-protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015), playable throughout the main campaign with her own missions, skill focus (stealth and tools), and story beats. She returns as the lead of the Jack the Ripper DLC. She has additional appearances and references across the wider franchise: Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, a simulated role in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the novel Assassin’s Creed: Underworld, Last Descendants – Locus, and later tie-in material. Victoria Atkin provided both voice and performance capture, which is a large part of why Evie feels so grounded and specific rather than generic “female assassin.”
Why She Belongs Here
Evie sits in that perfect pocket: competent enough that the allure never feels like the whole point, attractive enough that the competence never feels like a costume. The default Assassin coat is dramatic and functional; the alternate outfits (ballgown, customized colors, later-period looks) give plenty of room for the kind of photography this feature exists for. She can be the hooded silhouette on a foggy rooftop or the woman who has just taken the hood off and is looking at you like she already knows how the night ends.
She is also one of the few Assassin’s Creed leads who feels like she would actually enjoy the after-hours version of her own legend. The same mind that catalogs Pieces of Eden and plans three rooftops ahead is the one that would decide exactly how much of the coat stays on.
