In a celebration of the franchise’s upcoming 30th anniversary, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games thrilled audiences at The Game Awards 2025 with the official reveal of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. This title is not merely a remaster, but a full, ground-up reimagining of the genre-defining 1996 original.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game promises to marry the classic, deliberate platforming, complex puzzles, and dual-pistol action of Lara Croft’s debut with stunning modern graphics and fluid gameplay. Players will once again follow Lara’s quest for the fragments of the legendary Scion artifact across iconic, exotic locations, including the jungles of Peru, the ancient ruins of Greece, and the deserts of Egypt.
The announcement was part of a double reveal, which also included the next mainline sequel, Tomb Raider: Catalyst (set for 2027). However, Legacy of Atlantis will be the first new adventure to hit shelves, with its release slated for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Voice actress Alix Wilton Regan will portray the fierce, confident Lara Croft in this new era.
