Marvel Heroes is back.

Marvel Heroes is back.

If you’ve been gaming back in 2013 and are a Marvel fan, chances are that you played or at least, have heard of, Marvel Heroes. Developed by Gazillion Entertainment, the game was basically Diablo II in the Marvel Universe, and instead of Sorceresses and Barbarians, we had iconic heroes like Thor, Captain America or Wolverine along a solid roster of other popular Marvel superheroes.

And the comparison to Diablo II is no coincidence, since Marvel Heroes was created by legendary David Brevik, the designer of the original Diablo and Diablo II.

Marvel Heroes had the iconic 3 skill trees for each character, allowing for specialization in certain skills and styles of play. Each skill could be upgraded to level 20 max, just like in Diablo II and each level we got an increase to our stats as well.

Later on, the game received additional updates and tweaks and was the first ARPG to feature raids, which required players to work together to overcome.

The story of the game was also rock-solid. With villains like Dr. Doom, Ultron and the Skrull all making an appearance and the plot taking us all over the Marvel Universe, from New York to Asgard, to Genosha and even the Savage Land.

But as with many other games that were good, but failed to live up to Corporate Greedâ„¢, Marvel Heroes was canned by Disney in 2017. Brevik also left Gazillion Entertainment a year earlier.

Nowadays, there is basically no way for people who previously bought the game, to play anymore, since Marvel Heroes required a connection to a server to function and for in-game events to happen, there was no offline mode. That is, until very recently, a bunch of people got it into their heads to to revive the game, out of sheer love for it.

Project T.A.H.I.T.I. is a private server that uses the MHServerEmu software, which is a Marvel Heroes server emulator and it is well underway to offering the full Marvel Heroes experience once again. The most recent build of the project is 0.7.0, so there is still work to be done until the 1.0 release, but the game is already playable, with many quests, skills and characters functioning.

To be able to play on the Project T.A.H.I.T.I. server however, you will need to either own the game already on Steam from way back before it became de-listed. Or you will need to find and download it through Other means around the InterWebs. The version to look out for is Marvel Heroes Omega Version 1.52.0.1700 (2.16a).

If you want to check this thing out (and you definitely should) head on here. You can also join Project T.A.H.I.T.I’s discord here, to keep up to date with development and the 1.0 release. Also take a look at the video below, for instructions on how install and play it.
