If you are a fan of isometric CRPGs, the name AtomTeam likely conjures images of the gritty, Soviet-inspired wastes of ATOM RPG and its stellar sequel, Trudograd. After spending years perfecting the “Fallout-like” subgenre, the independent studio has shifted its gaze from radioactive ruins to the lush, dangerous shores of Nova Drakonia in their latest title, Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy.
While the setting has changed, the soul of their design remains: deep player agency, uncompromising difficulty, and a love letter to the “Golden Age” of roleplaying games.
AtomTeam first made waves in the RPG community with ATOM RPG, a game that successfully captured the atmosphere and mechanical depth of the original Fallout titles. They followed it up with Trudograd, which refined their “Warcore” design philosophy, offering branching narratives and complex skill checks that felt earned rather than given.
In Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy, the team applies that same tactical rigor to a low-fantasy medieval setting. Instead of scavenging for rusty AK-47s, you’ll be managing a party of adventurers, managing gear durability, and navigating a world where a single wrong dialogue choice can be just as lethal as a bandit’s blade.
Core Features: The Infinity Engine Reborn
Swordhaven draws heavy inspiration from classics like Baldur’s Gate 1 and Icewind Dale, but it brings modern quality-of-life improvements to the table:
- Dual Combat Modes: Players can switch between tactical Turn-Based combat (for those who love meticulous planning) and Real-Time with Pause (for those who prefer the flow of traditional Infinity Engine titles).
- A Classless System: There are no rigid “Fighter” or “Mage” boxes. You build your character through stat combinations and skill investments, allowing for highly specialized or Jack-of-all-trades builds.
- The Nova Drakonia Sandbox: The game features a non-linear world map. You aren’t funneled down a single path; exploration is rewarded with unique NPCs, hidden crypts, and lore-heavy artifacts.
- Skill-Heavy Dialogues: True to the developer’s roots, your character’s attributes—Intelligence, Persuasion, Intimidation, and even your background—constantly unlock new ways to resolve quests without drawing a sword.
The Mystery of the Iron Conspiracy
The story begins with a classic hook: you are a lone traveler on a ship to a new land when a dying man entrusts you with a strange artifact. This relic pulls you into a web of political intrigue and ancient cosmic horror (a nod to the Lovecraftian undertones found in AtomTeam’s previous works).
As you move from quiet hamlets to the sprawling city of Swordhaven itself, you’ll realize that the “Iron Conspiracy” isn’t just a local power struggle—it’s a threat to the very fabric of Nova Drakonia.
Version 1.0: Out of Early Access
After exactly one year of rigorous community testing and polish, the wait for the full experience is over. Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy has officially left Early Access as of December 16, 2025.
The 1.0 release includes the complete main storyline, the full map of Nova Drakonia, and the much-anticipated “Magus Tower” content. Whether you’re a veteran of the ATOM series or a newcomer looking for a deep, party-based adventure, the gates of Swordhaven are finally open for everyone.
