The Dungeon Crawler Reborn: Descend into Danger with Crypts of Carith

Deep beneath the stone of the village of Carith, ancient evils are beginning to stir. For fans of classic “blobbers” and tactical grid-based exploration, Crypts of Carith is shaping up to be a must-watch title in the modern dungeon-crawling renaissance.

Developed by EverMoore Studios—the solo venture of a 15-year games industry veteran—this upcoming title blends old-school sensibilities with a polished, accessible D20-based system.

A Journey into the EverMoore Chronicles

Crypts of Carith isn’t just a standalone adventure; it is the debut entry in the EverMoore Chronicles. The developer’s vision is a series of “Modules”—tightly designed, standalone adventures (roughly 6–8 hours each) that focus on specific regions of the world of Aurelith.

One of the most exciting features for RPG fans is the character persistence. Adventurers aren’t locked into a single game; players can carry their party, complete with their experience, skills, and hard-earned gear, from one chronicle to the next.

Key Gameplay Features:

  • Party Customization: Create a full party of up to six adventurers. Whether you want a balanced squad or a chaotic “all-wizard” run, the choice is yours.
  • D20-Based RPG System: The game utilizes a familiar open-source D20 system, making it easy for tabletop veterans to jump in while remaining intuitive for newcomers.
  • Exploration-Focused: Your journey begins in the hub village of Carith, leading you through forgotten cellars and sewers before you finally descend into the titular crypts.
  • Hand-Crafted Art: While early development used AI placeholders for character portraits, the developer recently announced that professional artist Pedro Morán has joined the project to replace all portraits with custom, high-fidelity artwork.

Built for Modern Platforms

Despite its solo-dev roots, EverMoore Studios is aiming for a broad reach. The game is being developed with full controller support in mind and is currently planned for PC and Nintendo Switch, with PlayStation and Xbox versions also in the pipeline.

The developer’s goal is “feature parity” across the series—ensuring that if a new mechanic is added in a future chronicle, it will be backported to Crypts of Carith, keeping the entire library of adventures feeling modern and connected.

As of early 2026, the game is targeting an Early Access release later this year. To see the new artwork in progress, ask questions directly to the developer, or join the community of dungeon-crawling enthusiasts, you can join the official server below:
